Essential Oils

For centuries, many cultures have used exotic aromas ceremoniously. Recently, it has been discovered that aromas play a significant role in our overall health. Aromatheraphy uses aromatic essential oils to improve the body's physical and emotional health and beauty.

Essential oils are known as the "life force" of plants. They are highly concentrated, volatile oils that are extracted from herbs, flowers, leaves, resin, bark, fruit rinds and roots. The amount of essential oils extracted from these resources typically range from 0.01 to 10 percent. You can just imaging the enormous amount of materials required for even 25 gallons of oil.

These therapeutic essential oils can be inhaled directly or diluted to be applied to the skin. The purpose of essential oils and their purpose in aromatherapy is to have the brain (lymbic system) channel the effects of the oils to balance your body's systems.

If you have never experienced aromatherapy and essential oils, you should dilute the concentrated oils with pure-blend oils so as not to overwhelm yourself. This is especially important for small children or individuals with sensitive skin. In turn, the brain responds to the particular scent affecting our emotions and chemical balance, this is known as aromatherapy. Essential oils may also be absorbed by the skin and carried throughout the body via the circulatory system to reach internal organs.
